So… Where Exactly Are You?

Cory Beckman

A question we have been getting a lot lately is: “Where is the new shop?

The honest answer is that we may have accidentally made ourselves sound a little mysterious.

We are not hiding. We are not operating out of a secret floral bunker. There is no password, hidden door, or unmarked van full of peonies.

Milwaukie Floral is now operating as a floral studio rather than a traditional retail flower shop.

That means all the flower magic is still happening. We are still ordering fresh flowers, processing stems, designing arrangements, preparing deliveries, answering questions, and creating thoughtful pieces for birthdays, anniversaries, celebrations, sympathy, events, and all the moments in between.

What we no longer have is a retail floor with an open door for walk-in shopping.

Think less “pop in and browse” and more “we’re behind the scenes, surrounded by flowers, thoughtfully creating your order.”

A traditional flower shop has to be ready for two very different things at once: serving customers who walk through the door and completing the orders already scheduled for delivery. A studio allows us to focus our time and attention on the work that has already been entrusted to us.

Instead of maintaining a full retail display throughout the day, we can spend more time selecting flowers, designing each arrangement, communicating with customers, and making sure orders leave the studio looking the way they should.

In other words, we have not become less available. We have simply changed how we are available.

You can still place an order online or by phone, ask us questions, arrange delivery, and work with us on something more customized. We are very much here—we just may be holding clippers when you call.

The studio is a working floral space, which also means it is not designed for browsing, surprise visits, or stopping in to see what happens to be in the cooler. Every flower coming through the door is generally connected to an order, an event, or a plan.

That shift can understandably feel a little confusing, especially for customers who remember Milwaukie Floral as a walk-in neighborhood shop. For many years, knowing where we were also meant knowing you could simply come inside.

Now, our physical location is more like the kitchen than the dining room.

You may not be sitting at the counter watching everything happen, but we are back there chopping, mixing, arranging, adjusting, and trying not to lose the one pair of scissors we were just holding.

This new model gives us the ability to work more intentionally and focus more closely on customer service, design, and delivery. It also gives us a little more flexibility to grow in ways that were difficult while operating a traditional storefront.

So, where are we?

We are still in Milwaukie. We are still making flowers. We are still serving the community.

We are simply doing it from behind the scenes now—with fewer display shelves, more focused design time, and approximately the same number of missing scissors.
