Rooted Nearby is our occasional series highlighting local nurseries, growers, and garden businesses we’ve visited, enjoyed, and feel good about recommending. While Milwaukie Floral no longer has a garden center of our own, we still love helping connect our community with great local places to find plants, garden inspiration, and knowledgeable advice.

For our first Rooted Nearby, we’re heading to Southeast Portland to introduce you to Revive Gardens PDX, a small native plant nursery that is doing some pretty wonderful things with plants, habitat, and our local landscape.

Who They Are

Revive Gardens PDX is a small, woman-owned native plant nursery in Southeast Portland, run entirely by Misha.

The business grew out of a pivot during COVID, when Misha found a way to bring together many of the things she already loved. Plants, nature, photography, and design all came together to form Revive Gardens.

Today, she has built a business that combines native plant sales with permaculture design, landscape installation, and regenerative garden maintenance.

Her focus is not simply on adding plants to a yard. It is about creating spaces that are beautiful, functional, and better connected to the natural environment around them.

What She Specializes In

If you are looking to add more native plants to your garden, this is where Revive Gardens really shines.

Misha specializes in Pacific Northwest native plants, with everything from groundcovers and flowering perennials to ferns, grasses, shrubs, and trees.

She is especially focused on helping people choose plants that will actually work in their space. Sun exposure, soil conditions, moisture, mature size, and how plants interact with one another all matter.

That thoughtful approach is one of the things we really appreciate about her work.

Many of the plants sold through Revive Gardens are grown right on site from seed, cuttings, and plant divisions, while others are sourced from local growers.

The online shop also includes helpful information about individual plants, including growing conditions, maintenance, environmental benefits, and companion plants.

It makes native plant shopping feel much more approachable, especially if you are just starting to explore what might work in your own yard.

Where You’ll Find Her

Revive Gardens is located in Southeast Portland’s Brentwood-Darlington neighborhood. The nursery operates from Misha’s own property, which is also home to an incredible native garden.

There is one very important thing to know before you try and head over.

Revive Gardens is not a walk-in nursery.

Orders are placed through their website and plant pickup is arranged after your order is ready. The nursery itself is located on private residential property, so please do not stop by expecting to browse. If you need to arrange a different pickup time or have questions about a particular plant, you can contact Revive Gardens directly.

They are also a seasonal nursery. Plants are generally available during our Pacific Northwest planting season from September through May, with the nursery closed during the summer drought months of June through August.

Why She’s on Our List

Misha knows her stuff.

She has a deep knowledge of native plants and a real talent for focusing on what will actually thrive in your specific yard, rather than simply recommending what looks good on the nursery bench.

We were lucky enough to get a small tour of Misha’s own yard, which also doubles as the Revive Gardens nursery. It’s a great way to see these plants growing in a real residential setting.

In many cases, if it’s thriving in her yard, there’s a good chance it can thrive in yours too.

We first worked with Revive Gardens when Milwaukie Floral was tasked with creating a corporate event centered around a native plant theme. Misha helped us curate the plant selection for the event, and the choices were absolutely perfect.

She also brings a designer’s eye to everything she does.

With a background in abstract analog photography and graphic design, Misha has a strong sense of composition, texture, color, and how plants work together visually. That is something we especially appreciated as florists.

Knowing that everything from plant sourcing to design to customer communication is handled directly by Misha makes the business feel especially personal.
